Browsing vs Buying Behavior for Consumer Electronics Products

The trend toward buying Consumer Electronics online continues to grow. More than half of consumers both browsed and purchased products online, vs. 15% who favored a retail-only experience. And despite attracting a lot of hype, the study showed that “showrooming” (the practice of checking out products in-store and then buying online) accounted for only 11% of purchases.

  • 54%: Browse for products online and ultimately purchase online
  • 20%: Browse for products online and ultimately purchase at a retail store
  • 11%: Browse for products at a retail store and ultimately purchase online
  • 15%: Browse for products at a retail store and ultimately purchase at a retail store
